Ternyata Ltd. provides consultancy services in public health. We aim to strengthen public health research and make sure that good research gets translated into good policies. We’re also keen to promote dialogue and debate between scientists, politicians and the public; we believe that scientifically literate populations can demand more from the research community as well as from policy makers.
Ternyata’s practice encompasses methods development, original research and secondary analysis. All of our work is policy-focused. We currently focus on research into medicine procurement, pricing and quality, especially in middle and lower income countries. We also look at knowledge translation, and ethics and equity in global health research.
Ternyata was founded in 2010 by Elizabeth Pisani. Elizabeth is a Visiting Professor at Pancasila University in Jakarta, and also holds (or has held) visiting or honorary posts at the George Institute of Global Health (Professorial Fellow); London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (Honorary Associate Professor); the Policy Institute, King’s College London (Senior Research Fellow); Imperial College London (Reader); and Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management (Associate Professor). She has a PhD in infectious disease epidemiology from LSHTM, and also holds an MSc in medical demography (LSHTM) and an MA in classical Chinese (Oxford). She has provided advice to the governments of Indonesia, China, the Philippines, East Timor and other countries, and worked for a wide variety of international and global health organisations, including the World Health Organisation, UNAIDS, UNICEF, the World Bank, the Wellcome Trust and the Center for Global Development.
Since 2014, Elizabeth has focused research attention on medicine supply chains and quality. Earlier epidemiological work was in HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, with a special emphasis on disease surveillance and the measurement of sexual behaviour. More recent interests encompass areas of policy that cut across many fields — data sharing and the ethics of biobanking are among them.
Elizabeth works with a loose coalition of colleagues from around the world. Our working languages at Ternyata are English, Indonesian, French and Spanish.
